Preparatory Movement/Script Workshop Dates (locations and times TBA) :
Thursday June 21: Script emailed to performers and crew
Friday June 29: 2hrs morning scriptwork/introduction 2hrs evening choreography
Saturday June 30: 3hrs morning & afternoon scriptwork/choreography
Sunday July 1: 3hrs morning & afternoon scriptwork/choreography
Project Work/Shooting Dates (locations and times TBA) :
Monday July 2 – Thursday July 5, max. 12hrs with regular breaks
Monday July 9 – Thursday July 12, max. 12hrs with regular breaks

*Project/shoot times may shift due to Northern light in early morning.
Opening/Performance:
Thursday July 12, Arts Underground, 5-7pm
*performance will be an additive ensemble which imitates and congeals the production shoot into a live-act and/or live document filmed only in Video.
Artists Sought:
Maximum en Mass and nientenon Movement Productions seeks 4 Techno-tolerant devoted/dedicated performers with art-context backgrounds to help enable Couplings to be successfully realized.
About the Project:
Couplings is an experimental installation which takes notes from visual artists such as David Levine (HABIT, 2010) and Ryan Trecartin who re-implement the role of the actor/performer within new social constructs and settings. Visual and conceptual cues may also be drawn from works by Maya Deren (in particular Ritual in Transfigured Time, 1946) Sophie Calle and Yoko Ohno (early instructional/ FLUXUS period works).
Couplings will invigorate Arts Underground with a collection of visual art rhetorics, supplanting the viewer within a maze of kaleidoscopic surveyance. Propelled by the concentric visual frameworks in film, dance, durational performance and classical art training, we will illuminate the parallels ricocheting within movement-phrases and scripted visual-narrative plots. The visual stimuli for Couplings is built from concepts of partner-ing: the worlds of mechanics, railways, interactions 'between', conversations, construction, lovers; in short – visual dualities.
Participants need to be willing and able to attend all rehearsals, building and production shootdates, willing to devote their artistic skills and trades when constructing a set, willing to memorize and enact the given text, willing to push their own creative selves and willing to address and place her or his body within a performative visual-art rehearsed envelope.
We seek visual artists/performers/dancers/actors who are sensitive to one's true physical natures and contortions, thus a non-trained dancer is absolutely acceptable and a non-trained visual artist even more so!

If we do not ask you to perform in the work, we may invite you to become involved with the project in other as-important ways -- as crew, sewers, cooking helpers, builders, production assistants etc. -- Please note that production crew are volunteer based.
