Ceramics Level 1 is a seven-week beginners course demonstrating the steps and skills required for wheel throwing, from start to finish. This class includes learning to wedge and centre clay, throwing basic shapes and vessels, and basic dip glazing. We’ll learn the terminology and techniques to get you started so you can keep practicing on your own.
Supplies included
Your registration fee includes one 22 lb. bag of Plainsman brand M340 clay (mid-temperature, smooth, plastic, semi-vitreous, buff burning, native functional stoneware), as well as the cost of glazing and firing your clay. Also included is a Studio Class Pass ($70 value). No need to come pick it up - your supplies will be waiting for you in the studio on the first day.
Notes about this workshop
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you do not mind getting dirty
The process of drying, firing, and glazing ceramics requires some time and patience, especially in a busy volunteer-run studio. Because of this, it may take up to 5-6 weeks for your finished work to be ready for pickup. We will contact you when your pots are ready!
Workshop registration fees are non-refundable
To maintain the safety of our staff, instructors, and gallery visitors, all participants are required to wear a mask at all times.
