An eight-week course designed to give learners the opportunity to explore and experiment with a variety of drawing tools - coloured pencils and graphite sticks, conte and charcoal, pen and ink, oil and chalk pastels. This course will focus on current themes in contemporary drawing such as mark-making, mapping, narrative, and ornamentation. Weekly projects will be based on looking at a few selected contemporary artists' drawings and creating something based on their theme or technique. The course will include instruction in techniques and methods and offer suggestions for further study or exploration. Students are encouraged to bring a variety of drawing materials and drawing surfaces to experiment with.
Notes about this workshop:
Students should bring their own preferred drawing supplies (ie. pencils, erasers, paper, sketchbooks, pens etc.). Some supplies are available for use in the studio, and the instructor will also be supplying a variety of tools to experiment with.
This is not an introductory workshop. Some previous drawing experience is required.
