Do you find yourself asking…”What are the steps to glazing your pieces again?” Are you curious to refine your glazes skills? Maybe you’re looking to get back into the Ceramics studio but it has been a while since your last class? This glaze refresher class is for you!
In this skillshare, we want you to be proficient and confident to glaze up your own masterpieces as an independent studio user. We will discuss and demo the steps of glaze prep, go through the steps for basic glazing and discuss some techniques for glazing vessels, bowls, and plates. Glazing is an art form in itself and there are countless techniques for achieving them. This refresher will go over some of the most frequently used including dipping, brushing and painting, pouring, glaze resist and underglazes.
Students will be using test tiles and abandoned bisque work to practice the skills discussed. Our goal is for you to be able to finish your own work in the future as an independent Ceramic Studio user. Your glaze sample pieces will be fired and available for pick up at a later date so you can see the results. I encourage you to bring a notebook, pen and all your glaze application questions.
*Please note that glazing takes practice and many, many trials/errors. Like all things in pottery the unexpected can always happen.
