Ever wanted to make your own teapot?
Never thought you could, without a potter’s wheel?
In this workshop, your instructor will take you through the steps of hand-building a teapot. You’ll start with slabs of clay, and cut them into shapes which you’ll “slip-join” to form the teapot body, spout and lid. Next, you’ll add texture or underglazes before the teapot is fired.
In the final session, which takes place three weeks after the hand-building session(s), you’ll apply ceramic glazes to your teapot – choosing from several techniques and glaze finishes. Your piece will then undergo a second firing that transforms it into a watertight, colourful and one-of-a-kind vessel.
Cane handles and clay are included in the workshop fee.
Note: Teapots have many parts and are not an ideal project for beginners. Prior clay-working experience is recommended.
