This class will offer you a pottery art escape with clay. I’ll introduce handbuilding pottery using slabs and discuss the process of pottery. You will create a uniquely yours vessel. A functional keepsake that hopefully holds your favorite brew. I’ll demonstrate the techniques to assemble, alter your pot and attach a handle. In this class we will be using a variety of slab building techniques and studio equipment. To create patterns and textures, you will be adding texture & stamp impressions to this one of a kind of piece. Once you have finished making your pieces, you can choose the finishing underglaze colour to highlight your texture. Your cup will be processed and finished in a clear glaze. After drying, glazing and firing your ceramic piece will be completed. In approximately 4 weeks you will be able to pick up your mug creation from Arts Underground.
Please note clay is a unique material and many variables that can have unexpected results. It has risks of cracking or breaking during the process and may not come out of the kiln as planned. However your new skills will help you to make more exciting pottery projects in the future.
