This intro to ceramic sculpture workshop will explore sculpture techniques such as coiling and pinching, joining versus solid and carving out, armatures, props, refining details, further building up, and drying techniques. Oxides, mason stains, underglazes, and clear glazes will be utilized for surface decoration. Students will explore what is also possible after the kiln firing, such as using adhesives to fix breaks, adding metal leaf, assemblage of other materials, and glass paints.
