In this introductory workshop, participants will learn how to make ceramic objects without a potter’s wheel. Instruction will cover the core construction techniques of pinching, coil-building and slab-building, as well as how to apply ceramic glazes to pieces once they’re fired. Participants can pick from a variety of projects including a cup, soap dish, bowl, sushi plate, small serving tray, mug, pitcher and pen caddy.
While this workshop is designed for beginners, it is also suitable for anyone wishing to freshen their skills in order to tackle more challenging projects.
Notes about this workshop:
Arts Underground continues to require masking and proof of vaccination for individuals taking part in workshops in the studio. For individuals visiting only the store and galleries, we will still require masks at all times, but proof of vaccination in this instance will not be required. The Government of Yukon has authorized businesses and non-profits to establish their own rules regarding masking and proof of vaccination.
The reason for proof of vaccination in the Studio is that Studio participants will be working in close quarters in an area that is not optimally ventilated. Exceptions to the rules are the now widely publicized medical conditions. We hope you will understand and accept our desire to keep both staff and visitors safe during the pandemic.Supplies included: Half a bag of M340 Clay per person.
