This sketching workshop is about getting comfortable drawing outside, and learning how to convey the composition and feel of a landscape in your sketchbook. We will learn techniques to express depth, and to represent elements such as mountains, trees, and rocks.

If there is rain on the morning of the workshop, participants will be contacted no later than 12pm to let them know that the workshop has been postponed to Wednesday, August 2 (6pm - 8pm)

What to bring:

• Drawing materials: sketchbook with a hard cover (or use a clipboard), pencils (optional: ink pens, watercolour pencils or other wet media, paintbrushes)

•  Something to sit on (camping chair, folding stool, blanket)

• Mosquito repellent

• Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses

• Water

Directions to sketching spot:

From downtown Whitehorse, take the Alaska Highway northbound on top of Two Mile Hill. Turn left on the Fish Lake Road. Set your odometer at 0 and drive for 1.4 km. There is a large pullout on your left where you can park. There is no specific signage but you will see Esther’s red pickup truck! The sketching workshop will take place right at the McIntyre Creek viewpoint, just a few steps away from the parking.

Warning: The view is stunning at this location but please watch your steps and do not get too close to the cliff edge!
