“Pinching” is a wonderful, low-tech way to shape clay into pottery. By applying finger pressure to compress, mold and stroke the clay, you can make all kinds of volumetric shapes with nothing but your hands.

In this workshop, you will:

• learn and practice the basics of pinching clay into bowl, cylinder and barrel shapes;

• embellish your pinch pots by adding surface details and appendages, such as rims and feet; and

• glaze your pots.

The instructor will demonstrate carving, stamping and slip decoration techniques to inspire your approach to surface decoration. Each item you make will be a one-of-a-kind piece owing to your unique design and glaze choices!

This class is suitable for beginners and those with prior clay experience.
