Learn how to make ceramic vases and pitchers from rolled out slabs of clay in this 3-part workshop with instructor Chris Scherbarth. We’ll go through the steps of creating and embellishing cylindrical vessels using templates, making and attaching handles and spouts, and decorating “bisque-fired” vessels with ceramic glazes. At the end of the workshop, you should have several functional vessels to take home and enjoy.

Notes about this workshop

  • Please note clay is a unique material. It has risks of cracking or breaking during the process and may not come out of the kiln as planned. However your new skills will help you to make more exciting pottery projects in the future.

  • The process of drying, firing, and glazing ceramics requires some time and patience, especially in a busy volunteer-run studio. Because of this, it may take several weeks for your finished work to be ready for pickup. We will contact you when your pieces are ready!

  • Workshop registration fees are non-refundable

  • In accordance with Government of Yukon regulations, masks are mandatory for all participants who are able to wear them. To learn more about how we're staying safe in our studio, visit www.artsunderground.ca/covid-19
