Experience needed. Not for beginners. Must be able to manage making you own pieces independently either at AU or your own studio

Join us for a packed weekend with a community Raku and smoke firing, picnic lunches, a beautiful farm-to-table dinner, and pottery discussions under a mountain backdrop at Boréale Ranch.

Bring 5-8 small pieces (coffee mug sized), and/or up to 1 larger forms. 8lbs of clay is provided, and can be picked up at Arts Underground. Pieces must be bisque fired in advance of the retreat. The Arts Underground kilns have scheduled bisque firings on August 29 & 31. Please have your work on the shelves a few days before.

There is additional studio time available at the Arts Underground  Studio on Tuesday July 27th from 6:30-9:30pm. Time can be booked here.

Please arrive Saturday morning at 9:30am at Boréale Ranch so the retreat can start by 10am. We'll be providing a variety of raku glaze options, including crackles, turquoise & copper glazes, naked raku, and horse hair techniques. We'll run 4-5 Kiln firings per day & 1 smoke fire over the course of the weekend, concluding Sunday evening.

Notes about this workshop

  • Workshop registration fees are non-refundable

  • Please note that Raku and Pit Fired fired pots are never fully vitrified, meaning they are not food-safe.
