Family workshop
Households unite for an exciting shadow puppet and storytelling 3-session workshop! This workshop is designed for children and families to embrace the powers of virtual lessons. Nicole will guide you to set up your own shadow puppet stage, demonstrate how to assemble engaging scenes and characters and finish by showing off your story! The outcome will be a recording of your shadow puppet show available for you to share with friends and family.
Monday, July 27: Building a scene and learning how to assemble shadow puppets
• Older/wiser helpers should be available to help install the tissue sheet and to ensure there is light passing through. Demonstration on what that looks like.
• Demonstrations on how shadow puppets work and how to assemble puppets.
• Beginning to talk about potential stories, scenes, and characters
Wednesday, July 29: Building a story and creating the scene and characters
• Brainstorming story ideas and starting to build scenes and characters for the story
• End of the session a quick show and tell.
Friday, July 31: Storytime!
• Each household will share their puppet show to the group.
• YAS/AU can record the show, edit, and share them on the AU Vimeo channel (permission depending)
