ART CURRICULUM DEVELOPER & CONSULTANT

Project Timeline: October 2020 – January 2021

Wage: 140 hours at $40/hour total of $5,600

Closing date: September 24th, 2020

PROJECT INTENT

The Yukon Art Society plans to improve our programming and keep pace with the needs of Yukon’s evolving art industry. Yukon Art Society would like to hire a consultant to help develop formal levelled curricula for the following topics: drawing, business in arts and art instruction. The contractor, with experience and knowledge teaching and developing lesson plans, is responsible for developing progressive curriculum. They consult with artists to create course goals and measurable outcomes and create effective lesson plans.

YAS will generate outlines for each workshop/course, consisting of content similar to a syllabus, with lesson plans and activities. These outlines will include YAS values; community, inclusivity and collaboration. YAS will own the final outlines of each curriculum and use them to hire and train local artists.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

· Consult with local and national artists to develop formal levelled curricula:

How to Teach Art

-  Elements and Principles of Design

-  How to teach art in communities

-  How to plan and execute a workshop

Business

-  Marketing

-  Finances and bookkeeping

-  Developing professional relationships

Drawing

-  Elements and Principles of Design

-  Life/ figure drawing

-  Still life drawing

· Develop key performance rubrics: set goals and measurable outcomes

· Develop a course plan with lesson, discussion and activities

· Develop training resources for artists instructors to teach the curriculums

· Manage a project budget of $2,250 for artist consultation fee (30 hours at $75 hour)

SKILLS

· Art Education and curriculum development proficiency: Ability to understand all of the components involved and make recommendations.

· Knowledge of local and national art: Ability to source and connect with a variety of artists and art professionals.

· Proactive: We would like to find a consultant that understands our needs and makes recommendations based on their experience with art curriculum development.

· Communication: We have a dedicated project lead and would appreciate the same. Being in the loop as the project moves through phases and understanding what is happening and when.

· Experience: Additional relevant experience related to this project specifically our curriculum goals, or the industry are assets.
