This four-week workshop is an opportunity for intermediate to advanced potters to learn the tricks of making a teapot. Instruction will focus on covering the requirements and aesthetics of creating conventional teapots, as well as delving into innovative forms and creative techniques. Larry will assist execution of the projects with hands-on help, where desired, so that students can count on completing two teapots with all the right bits (water reservoir, spout, lid and handle). The final session will include a glazing demonstration and instruction focussed on how to glaze teapot forms.
Students are encouraged to continue practising the glazing techniques they will learn independently in the studio.
Notes about this workshop:
When you sign up for this workshop, please note that your email will be added to a class-specific newsletter, which we will only use to contact you regarding this workshop. You can unsubscribe yourself from the newsletter at any time.
This is not an intro workshop. Participants must be comfortable throwing a variety of different complex forms, and should have completed a Ceramics Level 1 workshop through Arts Underground, or an equivalent at another studio (approx. 21 hours of instruction).
Students will be completing 2 teapots in this workshop. The final session will include glaze demonstration, but students should expect to complete the glazing of their teapots in the studio on their own.
