Cardboard Tales

FOCUS GALLERY
April 4 - 26, 2025
Opening Reception: April 4, 5-7pm

Some kids played with dolls, others built treehouses — I hoarded cardboard. There’s something magical about transforming what most people see as “recycling day” material into wild landscapes, whimsical creatures, and tiny worlds. In Cardboard Tales, I invite you into this cardboard universe where imagination doesn’t come in plastic wrap.

Each piece in the exhibition is handcrafted entirely from cardboard, from sweeping Yukon vistas framed in—you guessed it—more cardboard, to a 30-square mosaic exploring textures & patterns. It’s a playground of possibilities, proof that creativity thrives best with simple, overlooked materials

But that’s not all — Cardboard Tales is also your chance to visit an unusual city. A city made entirely of cardboard buildings, inspired by iconic Yukon landmarks, familiar rooftops, and cozy neighbourhoods. No GPS needed, just curiosity and a willingness to wander through alleyways made of corrugated folds.

After years of showcasing my illustrations and papier-mâché sculptures, Cardboard Tales is my proud cardboard coming-out party. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t always have to be precious— sometimes, it’s corrugated, slightly wonky, and full of personality.

So step into my world, where cardboard isn’t just for packing up your things—it’s for unpacking imagination.

AURORE FAVIER
Originally from France, I've been living in the Yukon since Dec 2021, self-employed/Freelance since 2016, I'm a Graphic Designer & Illustrator on the one hand: In this part of my work I'm used to responding to various creative requests (advertising layouts, communication supports, packaging, visual identity, ...) but I also have the chance to illustrate children's books in collaboration with publishers.

On the other hand, I'm a multidisciplinary artist under the name 'Papery Moose'. I evolve through different worlds and different mediums. From illustration to sculpture, from hand-drawn to digital, I blend the imaginary with the real, but always with a poetic spirit. In this context, I'm used to creating both personal collections and customized commissions for individuals or public organizations. Passionate about upcycling and in particular cardboard and paper, I try to bring these materials to the fore in my work.
