Each December, the Yukon Art Society Members’ Exhibition features new works by our members in a wide range of media, all based around a central theme.
This year, 21 artists from communities including Whitehorse, Dawson City, Marsh Lake, and Haines Junction have created pieces reflecting the theme Stoke. Artists were challenged to highlight the colour red in their work.
Stoke takes its inspiration from the longest nights of the year, when we spend more time close to our wood stoves and campfires. As we spend more time stoking the fires at home, we also have the opportunity to keep stoking the fires of creativity and imagination as we move into a new year.
While we can’t all gather together here as we usually would, we hope that you will still find a spark of light and warmth in this space.

YUKON ART SOCIETY
The Yukon Art Society was founded in April of 1970. Not only is it the oldest visual arts organization in the Yukon, but with a membership of around 150 members, it is the largest. The size and longevity of Yukon Art Society can be explained in part by our inclusiveness policy. Any visual artist, at any stage, working in any medium, is welcome to become a member of Yukon Art Society.
