Focus Gallery, September 2 - October 1, 2022
Hayley Thiesen (phonetically, T-SUN) a visual artist based in Whitehorse, Yukon. Hayley is an Art educator at a local high school since 2013 and has been working on a series of animal portraits with celebrity names, since 2014.
Hayley Thiesen/TSUN is originally from the North Thomson/Okanagan region of British Columbia. Hayley grew up in a very small logging community just outside of Kamloops B.C. Art has always played an important role in Hayley’s life.. She was fortunate to grow up with horses, and animals and has many fond memories of growing up in a small town.
Hayley studied visual arts, and literature at Thomson Rivers University, in Kamloops, B.C. She obtained her high school teaching credentials from the University of Victoria. Hayley has taught and lived in several small communities in British Columbia, as well as Seoul South Korea and Dalian, China. Living overseas afforded her the incredible opportunity to travel all-over South-East Asia and experience many different forms of art, culture and artmaking. It took many years of wandering, to find a place that really felt like a home.
Hayley is proud to call the Yukon home.
During the week, you can find Hayley in the art room at FH Collins working with her students. She paints prolifically in her spare time.
