Laura Kelly uses oil paint as her medium of expression. She pursued her interest in the evolution of communication and modern culture's constant need to consume media. She recently graduated from Media, Information, and Technoculture at Western University.
In her work, Laura explores themes of connection, self- love, loneliness, and the mundane details of everyday life. Her portraits, with their piercing eyes and life-like quality may remind you of someone you have seen before but can't quite recall. Like a stranger passing by on the street, or an old family photo, her portraits may strike a yearning for someone you once knew, but can no longer remember the name of.
Laura Kelly works in a wide range of styles. Her figurative and abstract pieces are inspired by movement and energy. Nude bodies contorted in unnatural poses, vibrant colors, textures, and shapes are unique and complex.
