Six artistes francophones du Yukon exposent leurs créations sous le thème Nous, aujourd’hui, mettant en lumière une variété de médiums dont la peinture, la sculpture, la broderie, le dessin et des installations.
This art exhibition features the creations of six Francophone artists from the Yukon on the theme Nous, aujourd’hui, showcasing a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, embroidery, drawing and art installations.
Nous, aujourd'hui est un hommage à ce que nous sommes en 2021, transformés par les événements qui ébranlent les fondements de nos sociétés. L'exposition est une fenêtre sur la femme du passé, du présent et du futur, multiple dans son identité de genre. Cette femme qui a contribué à bâtir la culture actuelle. Le mouvement Moi aussi, né en 2007 (mais officiellement connu en 2017), est une révolution en continu qui a aidé les femmes et les filles à s'affirmer, à dénoncer et à prendre leur place. Dans son évolution, le mouvement a donné la parole à tout être qui n'est pas au sommet de l'échelle des privilèges. Cette révolution est loin d'être terminée et elle s'adresse à toutes et à tous : la parole est libérée et la conversation se poursuit.

Nous, aujourd’hui pays homage to who we are in 2021, transformed by the events which have shaken the foundations of our societies. The exhibit is a window on the woman of the past, the present and the future, diverse in her gender identity – this woman who has helped to shape our current culture. The Me Too movement, born in 2007 (but officially established in 2017), is an ongoing revolution which has helped women and girls to stand up for themselves, speak out and claim their rightful place. As it evolved, the movement gave a voice to all those who do not belong to the privileged upper class. This revolution is far from over, and it applies to all of us: the word is out there and the conversation goes on.
Nicole Bauberger
Nicole Bauberger a passé le temps de la pandémie en exploration chez elle, utilisant du verre et de l'argile trouvé, travaillant et exposant dans le boisé derrière son terrain. Ces matériaux ont pris forme et se sont enracinés dans son imagination. Elle habite le territoire traditionnel des nations Kwanlin Dün et du Conseil des Ta'an Kwäch'än depuis 2003.
Nicole Bauberger spent the pandemic exploring at home, using glass and clay that she found, working and exhibiting in the woods at the back of her property. These materials took shape and became rooted in her imagination. She has been living in the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council since 2003.

Sylvie Binette
Sylvie Binette, Yukonnaise de longue date, est une artiste multidisciplinaire. Elle est passionnée par le patrimoine naturel et culturel du Yukon ainsi que par son interprétation. Elle apprivoise la métaphore afin d'exposer des concepts et d'évoquer une réflexion. Elle expose idées et subtilités afin de créer un dialogue entre son public et son oeuvre. Cette professionnelle du musée aime repousser les limites. Elle se veut porteuse d'expériences et de mémoires pour ses publics. Ses installations et ses performances depuis 2009 en sont les témoins.
Sylvie Binette, long-time Yukoner, is a mutli-displinary artist. She is taken Yukon's natural and cultural heritage and its interpretation. She harnesses metaphors in order to reveal concepts and provoke a reflection. It is through expressing ideas and subtleties that she creates a dialogue between the public and her art. This museum professional continuously pushes the boundaries. She aspires to be a maker of experiences and memories. Since 2009, her installations and performances are witnesses of that.
Marie-Hélène Comeau
Originaire de Montréal, l'artiste franco-yukonnaise explore sa construction identitaire nordique par l'art depuis son arrivée en terre nordique en 1992. Cette exploration se fait à travers différents médiums comme la peinture, la performance et la médiation culturelle. Ses oeuvres se retrouvent dans plusieurs collections privées au Yukon, au Québec et en Alaska. La portée communautaire et le rayonnement de son travail lui ont valu une mention spéciale en 2018 du gouvernement du Yukon. Marie-Hélène Comeau vit et travaille à Whitehorse au Yukon.
Originally from Montréal, this Franco-Yukoner artist has been exploring the construction of her northern identity through art since her arrival in the North in 1992. This exploration is executed through various mediums, such as painting, performance and cultural mediation. Her work can be found in several private collections in the Yukon, Québec and Alaska. The community impact and significance of her work gained her a special mention in 2018 from the Yukon Government. Marie-Hélène Comeau lives and works in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Maeva Esteva
Maeva Esteva est née en France en 1986 et a déménagée dans l'île de Huahine en Polynésie Française à l'âge de 9 ans. Il y a une dizaine d'années, l'artiste a choisi de vivre au Yukon, en quête d'espaces sauvages, de montagnes et de fraîcheur. Maeva a commencé à travailler la photographie et le dessin pour exprimer sa connexion avec la nature et le monde. À travers ses oeuvres, elle met en lumière la présence de la nature sauvage pour nous rappeler qu'elle est au coeur de nos vies.
Maeva Esteva was born in France in 1986 and moved to the island of Huahine in French Polynesia at the age of nine. Ten years ago, the artist chose to move to the Yukon, in search of wild spaces, mountains and the cool air. Maeva began working in photography and drawing to express her connection with nature and the world. Through her work, she highlights the presence of the wilderness to remind us that it lies at the very heart of our lives.
Joe La Jolie
Artiste multidisciplinaire demeurant au Yukon depuis une décennie, Joe La Jolie passe d'un médium à un autre depuis son enfance. Arts visuels, peinture corporelle, théâtre, poésie ou performance de cirque, sont pour elle des moyens stimulants d'exprimer la vie et les émotions qui la façonne. L'artiste ressent ce besoin incessant de parler de ce qui passe sous ses yeux. Elle trouve dans l'art un canal de communication idéal pour rencontrer l'autre et mettre de l'avant l'esthétique symbolique du monde qu'elle tente d'incarner dans ses oeuvres.
A multidisciplinary artist who has been living in the Yukon for the past decade, Joe La Jolie has been going from one medium to another since childhood. For her, visual arts, body painting, theatre, poetry and circus performance are stimulating ways to express life and the emotions that shape it. The artist feels an incessant need to talk about what she sees happening. In art, she finds the ideal communication channel to meet the other and put forth the symbolic aesthetic of the world she is trying to embody in her work.
Françoise La Roche
Originaire du Québec, Françoise Laroche vit au Yukon depuis 13 ans. Elle a appris les arts du textile de sa mère, Léa. Au fil des ans, elle a exploré diverses techniques comme le tissage, la tapisserie, la couture, le tricot... Aujourd'hui, elle se consacre principalement à l'art de la broderie. Du fil, une aiguille et un bout de tissu font office de couleurs, de pinceau et de toile.
Originally from Québec, Françoise La Roche has been living in the Yukon for 13 years. She learnt textile arts from her mother, Léa. Through the years, she has explored various art techniques, including weaving, tapestry sewing and knitting. Now she is mainly dedicated to the art of embroidery. Thread, a needle and a scrap of fabric act as her paints, brush and canvas.
